Disturbing Footage Reveals Instant Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush
One police sergeant who rushed to the help of a partner that was assaulted by a knifeman was granted the Royal Recognition for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a weapon to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver after a road collision in that location in July 2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sergeant Foster before Police Constable Wolstencroft incapacitated him with a electric weapon.
"Officer stabbed," the constable could be heard saying over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashboard camera recording shared by the police department revealed Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood up, rush to Sgt Foster from the rear with a knife outstretched.
He ran into the officer who tripped and dropped to the ground, after which Sergeant Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the floor despite being continually attacked with the blade.
PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a open target, ending the fight to an conclusion.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide help on my neck here, I got knifed in the throat."
Sgt Ansell suffered two open wounds to his throat and additional cuts to his arms and body, while Sgt Foster received slash wounds.
The department said Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stem his colleague's bleeding prior to paramedics reached the scene.
The latest award arrives after the law enforcement team were granted internal Bravery Awards in fall 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the area Police Federation in April 2024.
They further earned a North West Courage Honor in mid-2024.
"The actions of all three officers ultimately protected each other and meant no civilians suffered any wounds."
Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in early 2024, according to the department.
