Acclaimed children's author and entertainer David Walliams has been dropped by his UK book publisher, as confirmed by the firm.

A spokesman for the company said: "Following a thorough review, and with the guidance of its fresh leadership, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing any new titles by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the conclusion was taken subsequent to an investigation into allegations of questionable actions directed at young women.

The company declined to specify the motivations for this action, adding: "We refrain from speaking about confidential company decisions."

An Illustrious Literary Career

Walliams stands as a most prolific writers for young readers, having sold more than 60 million copies worldwide in dozens of tongues.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins in 2008.

Several of his books, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as small-screen adaptations.

He has published over four dozen titles combined, encompassing a festive story named *Santa & Son*, which came out under HarperCollins in October.

He first rose to fame on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his duties as an arbiter on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE in 2017 in recognition of his work for the charitable sector and arts community.

The publisher's decision comes after the selection of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive in October.
